PRIVATE BACKGROUNDS FOR WINDOWS TEAMS
Your team.
Your backgrounds.
One private space.
Give colleagues one place to find the backgrounds your business wants to use. Create a team, add your images and share an invite link.

Windows 11 · Current Windows Daylight client required · Account and internet connection required for private team access.
- 01Create your team
An administrator creates a private space and uploads backgrounds.
- 02Invite your colleagues
They verify an email, join on the website and install Daylight.
- 03Bring your background to a call
Members sign into Daylight, choose the team background and select its virtual camera in their meeting app.
Membership controls access to the private library. Keep invitation links within your intended team.
FOR ADMINISTRATORS
Start with a small team.
- Install Daylight on Windows 11. Get it from Microsoft Store, open the app and sign in with your work email. If your organization blocks Store installs, ask your administrator about the direct installer.
- Create a private space. Open Team spaces in Daylight’s sidebar, enter a team name and choose Create team.
- Add a background. Upload an image you are allowed to share, give it a recognizable name, and check how it frames a person. Uploaded team backgrounds are private images, not automatically generated adaptive scene packs.
- Copy the invite link. Share it directly with your intended colleagues. Save it when created; the app shows a code only when it is created or replaced.
- Try one call. Ask 3–5 colleagues to join, select a private team background and verify the result in their meeting app. Start with a short internal test before relying on it in a customer call.
Daylight also has a separate Team libraries workflow for shared adaptive packs. The invitation-link steps here refer to Team spaces.
FOR TEAM MEMBERS
One link gets you started.
- Open the link from your administrator. Verify an email address on the join page to create or reuse your account and join that team.
- Install the Windows client. Use the download offered after joining, or Microsoft Store. Joining on the website does not install the app.
- Sign into Daylight with the same email. Desktop sign-in sends its own login code. Your browser verification does not automatically sign the desktop client in.
- Choose the team background. Open Team spaces, select your team and choose an image. Start your webcam and virtual camera.
- Select Daylight in your meeting app. Choose Daylight (Windows Virtual Camera) and turn the meeting app’s own background effects off. Keep Daylight running. Detailed camera setup.
If you have a sharing code rather than a link, open the join page and enter it there. Ask your administrator for a new invitation if the old one is no longer valid.
MANAGE ACCESS
Control the library and its invitations.
Who can add backgrounds?
The team administrator uploads and removes private team images. Current members can view and use them. These backgrounds do not become part of the public Daylight gallery.
What happens when someone leaves?
Remove their membership in Team spaces. Private image requests check membership; a running app refreshes access about every minute. Allow up to about 60 seconds for an already-displayed image to clear.
When should I replace the code?
Anyone with the current invite link or code can join as a member after email verification. Choose Replace sharing code when an invitation has spread beyond your intended team, and when removing someone who must not rejoin. The old link stops accepting new members; existing memberships remain.
Revoking membership controls future access through Daylight. It cannot recall a screenshot, recording or copy someone has already made. Share only images your team is permitted to use.
A PRACTICAL BUSINESS PILOT
Check the whole experience.
Try installation, a fresh-account invitation, one private background and one real call. Check your appearance, moving hands, logo placement, lag and freezing in the receiving app—not just Daylight’s preview.
Test removing a willing test member, then replace the invitation and confirm the old link no longer works. Managed computers may restrict camera access, installation or third-party virtual cameras. Ask your IT administrator if a workplace policy blocks a step.
Send pilot feedback after the test. The short form covers installation, invitations, background quality and camera performance, with Not tested options and an optional reply email.
Does the camera video leave my device?
Daylight processes webcam video locally. The finished output goes to the meeting app you choose. Team images, account details and membership use Daylight’s online service. Read the privacy notice for storage, analytics and retention details.
What about Mac or mobile?
This private-team pilot targets the current Windows client. A separate Mac release exists, but features and release versions differ. No Daylight mobile app is offered. Check current platform facts.
