Teams and Google Meet.

Install and start the Daylight camera

1. Install Daylight

   Use the current Windows or Mac download. On macOS, move Daylight to Applications. On Windows, close camera and meeting apps before camera installation or an update.

2. Activate the virtual camera once

   Open Daylight and choose Install Daylight camera. Approve the one-time system request if it appears. On macOS, allow the Camera Extension in System Settings if prompted.

3. Choose your scene and webcam

   Select a room or outdoor scene, start your webcam and adjust quality, edge softness and foreground lighting to suit the frame.

4. Start the virtual camera

   Choose Start virtual camera, keep Daylight running, and open the camera selector in your meeting app.

Zoom, Teams and Google Meet

Zoom

Open Zoom’s video settings before or during a meeting and choose the Daylight camera. If Zoom is also applying its own background effect, turn that effect off so the image is not processed twice.

Microsoft Teams

Open the meeting’s device or camera settings and choose the Daylight camera. If the camera list was already open before Daylight started, close and reopen the settings or restart Teams.

Google Meet

Open Meet’s settings, choose Video, then select the Daylight camera. Refresh the meeting tab if its camera list was created before the Daylight camera started.

Other desktop or browser meeting apps can use the same pattern when they accept selectable system cameras. Daylight must remain running during the call.

THE QUICK FIXES

If Daylight is missing from the camera list

• Start the virtual camera first. Then reopen the meeting app’s camera settings.
• Refresh or restart the meeting app. Some apps only enumerate cameras when they launch or open a call.
• Close competing camera apps during installation. Windows camera setup may need to restart the Camera Frame Server.
• Check the operating system. This built-in Windows camera requires Windows 11; the Mac Camera Extension requires macOS 13 or later.
• Use Daylight’s setup help. Refresh camera status or use the Windows reset utility shown in the app if camera installation reports that a component is in use.

If the meeting shows a background with no person

Your virtual camera is in Background only mode because the webcam is off. Start the webcam from the studio, system tray or Floating Controls to place yourself back in the scene.

If motion is uneven

Open Camera and Call Health in Daylight and run the 30-second local check while the meeting is active. Standard mode targets a steadier 30 fps; optional High motion uses 60 fps only when the webcam and processing pipeline sustain it.

What Daylight sends to the meeting

The meeting app receives the finished virtual-camera frame. Foreground removal runs locally on your computer, webcam video is not uploaded to Daylight for cloud processing, and audio remains entirely in the meeting app.

System requirements

• Windows: Windows 11 or later, 64-bit. The current public build is an unsigned development preview, so Windows may show a security notice and camera setup requires administrator approval.
• Mac: macOS 13 or later on Apple Silicon or Intel. The public DMG is signed and notarized by Apple; camera activation can require one-time approval in System Settings.
• Meeting software: a desktop or browser app that lets you select a system camera.
